Prearranged Absence Request Form

Dear HCA Parents and Guardians,

At Hillsboro Christian Academy, we recognize that there are times when families may need to be away from school for planned travel, family obligations, or other circumstances that require advance planning. We also recognize the importance of regular school attendance and the significant amount of instruction students receive each day.

Ohio has placed an increased emphasis on student attendance and chronic absenteeism. Under current Ohio law, a student is considered chronically absent when the student misses at least 10% of the required school year, and this calculation includes absences regardless of whether they are excused or unexcused. Ohio's attendance guidance specifically recognizes that missed instructional time can negatively affect student learning.

For this reason, HCA has established a Prearranged Absence Request process for families who know in advance that their student will miss school. Please review the attached forms. 

By working together, we can help students maintain strong attendance, remain current with their coursework, and continue to make the most of the educational opportunities God has given us at Hillsboro Christian Academy.

If your family anticipates that your student will need to miss school for a planned absence, please complete the Prearranged Absence Request and submit it to the school office at least seven days in advance.
