Head of School
Head of School - Mrs. Becky Sanderson
Welcome to Hillsboro Christian Academy!
It is a privilege to serve as Head of School and to work alongside a dedicated team of educators, staff members, families, churches, and supporters who share a desire to see students grow and thrive.
At HCA, we strive to faithfully carry out our mission:
The mission of Hillsboro Christian Academy is to direct student learning in a Christian-centered Bible- based academic environment, to inspire students to adopt a God-centered worldview, to conform to Christ-like principles, and to impact the world around them for Jesus Christ. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
This mission shapes every part of who we are. We want our students to receive a strong academic foundation while also learning to view the world through the truth of Scripture. Our goal is to help each student grow spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally so that they are prepared not only for their next educational step, but also for a life of purpose, service, and faithfulness to Christ. We believe education involves much more than textbooks, assignments, and test scores. It includes the development of character, perseverance, wisdom, compassion, responsibility, and a willingness to serve others. We want our students to recognize the gifts God has given them and learn how to use those gifts to make a positive impact in their homes, churches, communities, and the world around them.
My own passion for education has been shaped by a variety of experiences. I have taught students across multiple grade levels, served in public-school administration, worked as a college instructor, and served as Director of the Spatial Analysis Laboratories at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. These roles have allowed me to experience education from many perspectives and have strengthened my belief that students flourish when they are known, supported, challenged, and encouraged.
Education is also deeply rooted in my family. My husband, Darrin, is a minister and also works in the HVAC field. Our two daughters are both continuing their education in college. One is preparing to become a middle-school math and science teacher, while the other is pursuing a career in counseling. Our extended family includes many educators, and teaching, learning, and serving others have always been important parts of our lives. Our family is actively involved in our church, where I serve through teaching Sunday School and Junior Church, coordinating Vacation Bible School, playing the piano, participating on the worship team, and assisting with many of the church’s administrative needs. These opportunities have reinforced for me the importance of ministry, relationships, and faithfully serving wherever God places us.
As Head of School, I am committed to helping HCA continue to grow in academic excellence, spiritual strength, clear communication, consistency, and care for students. We want HCA to be a place where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to reach their God-given potential. We also recognize that Christian education is most effective when the school, family, and church work together. We greatly value that partnership and the trust families place in us. HCA is continuing to grow and strengthen its programs, but our purpose remains constant: to provide an education centered on biblical truth and to prepare students to live with knowledge, wisdom, courage, compassion, and faith.
